Michael A. Van Kerckhove
Michael Van Kerckhove is a Detroit native and current Chicagoan. He holds a BA in Theatre & English from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Writing & Publishing from DePaul University. His nonfiction, interviews, and poetry have appeared in multiple issues of Off the Rocks from NewTown Writers, The Everyday Gay, Midwestern Gothic, BELT Magazine, Story Club Magazine, TYA Today, Silver Birch Press, Entropy, and How Long Will I Cry?–an oral history project devoted to those affected by youth violence in Chicago. He is active in Chicago’s vibrant live lit scene, and has shared stories in many events including Essay Fiesta, Guts & Glory, Is This a Thing?, Mortified, and You’re Being Ridiculous. Michael succeeded former TYA/USA Executive Director Chris Peak in September 2013.
