Brian Guehring is the Playwright in Residence and Education Director of the Omaha Theater Company for Young People whose education department does drama and dance education outreach for every single child, in over 71 local schools each school year (reaching over 27,000 students). His adaptations of Where the Red Fern Grows and Old Yeller won AATE Unpublished Play Project Awards. His script, The Bully Show, was honored at the Kennedy Center’s New Visions/New Voices symposium. Brian’s teen theater troupe, Pride Players, (which uses improvisation to explore being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and straight allied teens) has been honored by several regional and national groups; including a 2006 Human and Civil Rights Award from the National Education Association. He earned his MFA in theater for young audiences from University of Texas at Austin. He is a TYA/USA Board Member alum.
