Hailing from the cornfields of Nebraska, Amanda Carroll is a freelance writer and food and culture journalist with a love of kale, kumquats, tiny spoons and Broadway musicals. She is fascinated by the complexity of people and driven by a desire to understand what is and uncover what could be. Amanda holds a BA in Writing and Rhetoric and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing. Before delving into full-time writing, Amanda taught ESL, worked with refugees, and directed middle and high school youth programs in Kansas City. While earning her MFA she interned with San Francisco and Diablo magazines and has since established herself as a freelance food and culture writer in the Bay Area where she regularly contributes to Eater SF, 7×7, SF Weekly, Edible East Bay, and Berkeleyside.
