Youth Theatre and Activism

Description

This participatory workshop is called Youth Theatre and Activism. A workshop designed to help youth search for and find their voice to express the change they want to see in the world, using theatre as a tool to ignite social change. This will be a variety of group games, exercises and discussion. As time permits, we may include writing as well. The session will begin with a introductory group game and continue with a physical action exercise to develop gestures that suggests change. From there we will have group discussions on chosen social issues, brainstorming using games to help ignite discoveries of both problems and solutions that youth face today. The session will conclude with group stagings of improvised physical scenes and the creation of a dialogue that can help youth who seek to become active leaders in their communities.

The Ideal Participant

The ideal participant is someone who is interested in theatre for social change with youth. An individual who works with or is influenced by youth. This session is about helping young people search for and find their voice to express the change they want to see in the world
